Building a new life in Tokyo

Single professional | London, UK → Tokyo, Japan | Global Markets

Leaving London to join Nomura’s Tokyo office was an opportunity to experience one of the world’s leading financial centres while immersing myself in a completely different culture. From learning everyday customs to discovering the energy of life in Tokyo, the move challenged me both professionally and personally. Looking back, it gave me confidence, lifelong friendships and a perspective I could never have gained by staying in one place.

Discovering new opportunities in London

A new chapter in New York

Moving to New York was both exciting and demanding. The pace of the city, the diversity of the people and the opportunity to work alongside colleagues from across the globe made every day a learning experience. Returning home with a global perspective

Family | Singapore → Tokyo, Japan | Technology

Returning to Japan after several years overseas felt surprisingly different. We returned home with new experiences, stronger international relationships, and a broader perspective that continues to shape both our work and family life. Relocation isn’t only about moving abroad. Sometimes, returning home is just as important a part of the journey.

Every journey is unique

There is no single international relocation experience. Every assignment, destination and family situation is different, but one thing remains the same: each move offers the opportunity to learn, grow and build connections that last long after the relocation itself.

As you begin planning your own move, we hope these stories help you feel inspired, informed and excited about what lies ahead.
